Moderate Alcohol Use Virtual Group Therapy
Moderate Alcohol Use Group Therapy
Drinking has become a problem, but you don't want to give it up. Dry January is over and you don't want that bad rendition of "One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer" at the company holiday karaoke party to happen again. There may be plenty of times where cutting yourself off at one or two is easy. Other times it isn't, causing strain in relationships, unhealthy behaviors or health issues. You don't have to be an "alcoholic" to benefit from support and skill development. (By the way, you will never be called anything in this group besides brave.) You know you have the will to resist and just need the right tools for the job.
Moderate alcohol use is realistic for many people. In this therapy, you will connect with others who are looking to control their drinking and will have the freedom to talk about these challenges with those who understand. Developing moderate alcohol use skills and strategies will be the primary goal. There will be people who are new to therapy, those close or at their goal of moderate drinking and everywhere in between.
Our individual intake session will allow me to learn about you, as well as anything that could be a barrier to your drinking goals. Group therapy sessions will consist of thirty minutes of skill development and one hour of group processing, offering you connection with and support from other members while sharing your unique challenges and achievements. Also, if needed, I will be available for fifteen minute consult calls with active group members.
You dictate how much or how little you participate in any session. Confidentiality is the top priority, even above the treatment itself. The only expectation is that you come to therapy willing to support others and be supported. I have had my own struggles with alcohol use and found group therapy of tremendous benefit.
